The Southern California Library documents provides access to and offers education about histories of people working in community to create change.

Programs

We worked with schools educators and students as well as staff of local community-based organizations and community residents to access use and analyze our archives with a goal of increasing their ability to learn from and understand local community histories. Activities included conducting class presentations and educational workshops aimed at increasing capacity for civic participation on issues impacting the local community as well as working with local community groups to provide a safe and welcoming space for community meetings and events on current issues.

Expenses: $54K

We offered services resources for local youth and other residents with a goal of strengthening our local community. Activities included providing access to and assistance with basic information technology and food clothing and hygiene resources mostly to low-income Black and Latinx residents from the Librarys South Los Angeles neighborhood.
