IDEAS has preferred to assist women in their businesses so that they can better support their families. Immigrants to MX need to grow their income as quickly as possible. Many of the women microentrepreneurs choose to run food businesses. Other women we assist provide design and printing, health and ophthalmology services, laundries, bakeries, teaching and tutoring after school. Most women start with home-based businesses and move to stores as they grow. Two-thirds of the participants in our courses are women. Important parts of our entrepreneurial education are to learn the MX regulations and to operate more profitably. We work with many non-profit allies that provide therapy, health, and legal services. We document our participants activities and successes. regulations and to operate profitably. At first, some of the women need services from our allies such as therapy, health, and legal services. IDEAS is helping to overcome the bias that excludes women from full development. The women who are entrepreneurs in their original countries typically can grow their businesses quickly. We also assist those who were not businesswomen before. Some who were para-professionals are able to adapt more quickly.

IDEAS assists young people to achieve their economic and financial goals and overcome exclusion that they often face. We developed manuals for entrepreneurial challenges that all our participants face. We find the younger participants often have different perspectives and needs. We have been asked by educational institutions to train and guide them in volunteer programs. We have been working in recent years with families who are receiving remittances that benefit youth and others. We are assisting them to learn how to manage their funds more wisely to make good investments with their income. This helps to be able to increase their families resources by savings and to provide funds to grow their businesses. Many allies have recruited more participants of youth in other parts of the country. In MX, we began developing work with a business incubator that trains youth to create their first businesses. Some of the youth already had begun assisting in challenges that all our participants face. There is substantial shortfall in the household needs of their families so there is a need to make sure that the businesses could bring home income as well as to sustain their businesses.
