Grantsthe hospitaller program distributes money raised for feeding, clothing, and caring for the poor, elderly, and sick. After the hospitaller committee reviews the requests for funding, money is granted to various organizations that submitted applications. The order of malta contributes funds during their fund raising drive. Additionally, individuals sent funds separately, requesting the order to allocate them to organizations it supports and approves. The order also provides additional money to help support centers built by and largely supported by the order of malta both within and outside the united states.
Investiture and membershipthe membership and investiture program takes place on a yearly basis. An individual interested in membership must be supported by 2 existing members in good standing within the order of malta to be considered. Each application is reviewed by the executive committee to see if the applicant is a good fit. Once approved, each candidate undergoes a 2 day orientation, teaching the history, culture, and responsibilities of a member in our organization. Once approved by rome, the candidates are eligible to attend the investiture event where each candidate is formally invited to be invested to the order of malta in an investiture service and mass each october.
Other direct programs:the hygiene kit program takes place all year. Members get together at the local level to put together hygiene kits and distribute them to the homeless within their community. World day of the sick is an annual event in january, members organize local masses and events for the sick and distribute holy water to all parishioners. Members also distribute advent reflections during december.
