University of michigan health - sparrow ionia operates three physician practice offices within ionia county, offering primary care as well as some specialty care within areas such as ob/gyn, general surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, urology and nephrology. The primary care practices are located in the communities of ionia, saranac, and portland, and are designated as rural health centers as well as patient-centered medical homes. Umh - sparrow ionia accepts all governmental payers including medicare, medicaid, and tricare, with reimbursement rates at or below costs. Additionally, umh - sparrow ionia's charity care policy covers services in the outpatient setting, in turn providing free care to those in the community who qualify. For the year ended june 30, 2024, there were 77,508 visits in our physician offices.
University of michigan health - sparrow ionia's inpatient services are typical of a small rural facility. Operating 22 beds, umh - sparrow ionia provides nursing and physician services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For the year ended june 30, 2024, there were 721 admissions with 2,006 inpatient days of care. Nursing staff are on site 100% of the time, and hospitalist coverage is available on an on-call basis 100% of the time when not in the hospital. Umh - sparrow ionia accepts all governmental payers including medicare, medicaid, and tricare with reimbursement at or below costs. Additionally, the hospital's charity care policy covers all inpatient services, in turn providing free care to those in the community who qualify.
All other program services include services such as radiology, laboratory, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, infusion services, as well as inpatient hospital services.
