To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Area management and programs: special olympics mississippi is divided into 17 multi-county areas. Each area is run by a volunteer director that implements sports competitions and fundraising events throughout the year.
Public education and communications: special olympivs mississippi offers health screenings for vision, dental, and hearing. Approximately 400 screenings are performed by licensed health care providers annually. The young athletes and unified champion schools programs help provide inclusion and acceptance through sports between individuals with and without intellectual disabilities.
