St Joseph Regional Sports Commission Inc

St. Joseph, missouri marathon- held annually the last saturday in september, the race features multiple distances (full, half, 10k, 5k and marathon team relay) and provides area runners a platform to participate in a major running event locally but also annually attracts participants form 25 states throughout the country. The event benefits the ongoing day to day efforts of the sports commission but also our philanthropic partner, the junior league of greater st. Joseph which is a womens organization that provides support to women of all ages through clothes closets, support services, etc.

St. Joseph area sports hall of fame annual induction ceremony- held annually in august, this event celebrates and preserves st. Joseph and buchanan county history by inducting a hall of fame class of no more than 10 individuals, 1 team, a special olympics area athlete of the year and our woman of impact award winner. The event benefits the sports commissions mission of attracting/enhancing sporting events on all levels in our area and also seeks to build a permanent structure for our hall of famers in the future at a location yet to be determined.

High school community engagement award of excellence program- held in partnership with another st. Joseph area organization each april, the high school community engagement award of excellence program honors and celebrates 10 student-athletes (5 male and 5 female) from each of our five city high schools who are doing extraordinary acts in giving back to our community. Each recipient receives a $250 scholarship from the commission in which the winners receive $750.
