ALL OTHER PROGRAMS - HSHS St. Mary's Hospital - Decatur other specialized services include interventional radiology, outpatient IV therapy, medical/surgical care, and an intensive care unit. We are Joint accredited every three years. The lab, emergency department, and front lobby were all modernized in 2012 and we are looking forward to additional modernization in the next 2 years. St. Mary's Hospital Emergency Department is certified in EDAP (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics). St. Mary's holds the silver status for 2022 and 2023 Gift of Hope Donation initiative. St. Mary's was awarded by the American College of Radiology for mammographic imaging for Lorad Medical Systems Inc. Selenia Dimensions 2018.
EMERGENCY - St. Mary's Emergency Department is classified as a Comprehensive Emergency Department by the Illinois Department of Public Health and will offer emergency care twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven days a week. Treatment will always be provided by at least one physician or advanced practice nurse (APRN) on duty in the Emergency Care area. With the responsibility of the care of critically ill or injured children and adults. A dedicated staff of registered nurses (RN) on duty each shift who is responsible for the direct care of children and adults in the emergency department. With leading edge technology at our fingertips, we can process x-rays, CT scans and other diagnostic tests accurately and quickly, allowing faster diagnosis and treatment in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to stroke, heart attack, shortness of breath, motor vehicle and other accidents, broken bones, abdominal pain, lacerations, mental health issues. Emergency assessment will be done by Emergency Department Physicians and registered professional nurses and appropriate services/treatment provided to any person who presents themselves to St. Mary's Hospital Emergency Department. We have access to a wide range of specialists either in-house or through advanced telemedicine to help diagnose and provide treatment for those requiring a higher level of care. For the FY24 the St. Mary's Emergency Department saw 22,175 patients. Of that number 3091 patients were admitted of placed in observation for St. Mary's. With our access to higher levels of care, 855 patients were transferred to the appropriate facility to continue their care.
CARDIOLOGY - HSHS St. Mary's Hospital provides high-quality invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics and intervention as interventional radiologic procedures on both the in and outpatient population. The service lines consist of the Cath Lab, Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Cardiac Rehab. The Cardiology department provides these services under the guidance of the HSHS mission and in an environment consistent with its core values of respect, care, competence, and joy. The Providers and practitioners providing these services are properly credentialed within their respective disciplines, which includes Medicine, Nursing, Radiology and Sonography. Six Cardiologists and three Vascular Surgeons from Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants provide care to our patients routinely, with occasional support from their regional partners. We added Intravascular Lithotripsy to the Cath Lab in late FY24 and have already completed 8 cases. The Cardiac Stress Lab and the Cardiac Rehab service lines will see visit growth this FY. The Cardiac Stress Lab has increased the outpatient capacity by extending service hours and the Cardiac Rehab team will see installation of an Intensive Cardiac Rehab Program via the Pritikin platform. The Cardiovascular Ultrasound teams performed over 10,300 exams in FY24. Top 3 Categories by Volume, Cath Lab from July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024 - Invasive Cardiac Catheterization: 689 cases, 292 of which were interventional - Invasive Peripheral Procedures: 411 cases, 188 of which were interventional - EP (Pacemaker/AICD): 167 cases
