Steel Joist Institute

To develop, establish and maintain standards for the design, manufacture and erection of steel joists, to promote and assist in the development of and erection of steel joists. To promote and assist in the development of building code regulations for standard steel joists and to disseminate information relative to the proper use of standard steel joists in the interest of public safety. To aid and promote by lawful means the use of standard joists and the betterment of the steel joist industry, to serve as the regulatory body for the steel joist industry.

Overssight of the steel j0ist education programs. The education of and continuing education for professional engineers on the design, construction and retro-fitting steel joists.

Design check. Expenses charged with the review of steel joist designs by consulting engineers.plant recertification. Costs of inspection to insure quality and professionalism to inspect and recertify member plants as required by the bylaws of the steel joist institute.
