In 2016, sif was instrumental in launching the ao vocational rehabilitation center-moldova (vrcm) on the grounds of the state psychiatric hospital in chisinau. The agency is tasked with rehabilitation of the chronically mentally ill through art, craft, and other creative expression. In 2018, vrcm moved to the community. Currently it is located at the center of chisinau, where the staff of three rehabilitation specialists (including the director, who is an alum of our masters program) are working daily with ten chronically mentally ill participants (on average) toward psychiatric stability, community integration, and creative expression through an arsenal of academically-developed methodologies. Vrcm also provides trainings in vocational rehabilitation and social integration techniques to other social agencies in moldova, particularly community mental health centers. Sif provides continuing financial support, consultation, and oversight to the agency.

In 2012, sif was instrumental in launching the ao project casa mare (pcm). Pcm is involved in a range of cultural/artistic endeavors. In 2023, pcm organized a film festival dedicated to movies produced by panopticon studious - a fashion show, where the dresses featured designs by the patients from vrc-moldova; and several cultural events, mostly in rural areas. The greatest accomplishment of pcm is semiluna de bronz - a tourist system, which is focused on providing urban population with exposure to rural culture and natural environment, while giving the rural population an opportunity to manage village dwellings (restored by pcm as tourist lodgings), participate in rural festivals/concerts, and sell their crafts and produce at rural festivals. Currently, sif provides the continuing funding, logistical support, and oversight to semiluna in four villages. The system is managed by alums from the masters program at ulim in close collaboration with vrc-moldova.
