Student government association is a student voice on the campus of the state university of new york at canton. The student government association provides campus activities, events and organizations for the students of suny canton. Student government association is organized for the sole purpose of administration and operation of student groups at the state university of ny at canton. The organization served approximately 2,800 students during the fiscal year ending may 31, 2024. Student government association consists of approximately 28 events and clubs.

Clubs - student clubs provide educational and recreational events for their members. Non-members can participate. However, events tend to be related to the interest of the group members. Clubs can be interest, curriculum, or service based and need to be approved by the student government association . Each club is provided with funding as well as the right to participate in student government. There are approximately 28 clubs on campus.
Campus support activities - the campus support fund provides additional programming for areas that support students educationally and recreationally. For example: library hours are able to be extended due to additional student workers being hired to support. Additional fitness classes are available to students at no extra cost.
