Mission
To gather, learn, and grow in our gardens and schools. We envision an inclusive growing community focused on learning, connection, nutrition, and stewardship for current and future generations.
Programs
3 programs
Learn: teach 1800 children pre-k through 9th grade nutrition, gardening, compost and cooking education programs during the school year. Lead camp activities for 240 children, 20% of whom are on full scholarship. An additional 200 children visit the garden on a field trip during summer.
Grow: food security: we farm 1/4 acre in our garden to grow food to donate to summit community residents that are experiencing food insecurity. We provided 2000 pounds of fresh vegetables and herbs to 30 families on a weekly basis during the season. Additional food security efforts include weekly provisions of 300 pounds of fresh fruits to schools as snacks for qualifying students.
Community engagements: dinners in the garden: over 350 community members gathered with us as we hosted 5 dinners in the garden, such as: alpine distilling cocktails, a levantine feast with nosh restaurant, wasatch provisions, pie & beer night, and firewood garden party. Community education: over 135 people learn in our community education classes for adults which included gatherings such as: high altitude gardening, charcuterie boards, bee keeping, hawk watching, watercolor, family yoga, and seed starting. Volunteering: provided volunteer opportunities to support school- based education programs and garden tasks for over 300 people.
