Sunrise Horse Rescue

Horse-in-need (hin)program: when disaster strikeswhether financial hardship, health crises, or wildfireshorses suffer too.in 2024,sunrise received169calls from owners and neighbors seeking emergency help for at-risk horses.our horse in need (hin) programhasbeena lifeline for these horses. For every call we provide education and support on safe rehoming. In addition, if indicated we provide feed, veterinary services, transportation, medication,and sometimes sanctuary. If not for this intervention these horses would languish or go to slaughter.

Equine assisted learning (eal):is an experiential learning approach that utilizes interactions with horses to promote personal growth, develop life skills, and enhance emotional well-being.in 2024, sunrise horse rescue facilitated 17 eal program events with various communities: connected horse (equine-assisted workshops and training that inspire connection and engagement and improve the lives of those impacted by dementia together with their care partners),theboys & girls club,crestwood behavioralhealthcenter,upvalleyfamilycenter,and localseniorgroups. These eventsprovidedcommunity members with the unique benefit of equine assisted learning and therapy.

Volunteer program:children and adults in the community gain life-enhancing skills by assisting in the rehabilitation ofthehorsesat sunrise horse rescueandproviding them with the loving attention they so deserve. Volunteers contribute greatly to the care and well-being ofourhorses and also provide valuable help with projects like event planning, fundraising, and publicity.in 2024, sunrise maintained an average of 40 volunteers.
