Mission
For the future health and vitality of Surry County, the mission of the Surry County Early Childhood Partnership is to take action on behalf of the people of Surry County to support children 0 to 5 and their families through partnerships across the county.

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) - Program provides information to assist families in finding child care services. The staff assist families, providers and the community through trainings for child care providers, consumer education about quality child care, consumer referral for child care options, and lending library which offers materials to support child care providers and families with young children's learning and development. CCR&R offers rewards for increased star rating to eligible child care facilities by providing cash awards to teachers, assistant teachers, directors, assistant directors, and home providers. Eligible full-time providers may also receive one day of sick leave compensation for missed salary. 13 child care centers/homes received assistance. 12 individuals and 6 child care facilities utilized the lending library. 216 child care providers/individuals participated in a professional development workshop. 41 child care facilities with at least one staff person participated in child care trainings.
Nurturing Parenting Program - A home-based program provided for parents and their infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It is for families and their children birth to five, living in Surry County and at risk of child abuse or neglect and/or domestic violence. Services were provided through the Children's Center of Surry and Surry County Schools. A Parent Educator provides one-to-one virtual sessions and home visits in which parents learn about nurturing parenting routines, alternatives to hitting, child development, and ways to build self-esteem and self-concept in themselves and their children. Children's Center of Surry assessed 30 families for the need for services. 21 families and their children received home visits. 29 children were served. 21 families received resource information. 100% of the families accessed services to enhance family support and parent coping skills. Surry County Schools provided services to 12 families who were assessed. 12 families were offered 16 sessions. 100% of the families experienced an increase in nurturing parenting attitudes and practices and were referred to appropriate community resources.
