Business engagement: fishwise is a non-profit sustainable seafood consultancy with a mission to protect ocean ecosystems and the people who depend on them. In the 20+ years since its founding, fishwise has redefined responsible business practices in the seafood industry, driving greater accountability and oversight for the environmental and social impacts of seafood production. Fishwise achieves its mission through a combined approach of 1) longstanding partnerships with seafood companies 2) by amplifying impact via collaboration and collective action, and 3) by advocating for transparent, traceable, legal, and ethical seafood supply chains. Fishwise's business partnerships reach more than 450 suppliers worldwide and have expanded access to sustainable seafood across nearly 5,000 u.s. Grocery stores. In 2024, fishwise independently assessed over 63 million tons of seafood to verify compliance with sustainability commitments made by its business partners.

Traceability and counter-iuu fishing program: illegal, unreported, and unregulated (iuu) fishing is a global threat that jeopardizes the health of ocean ecosystems, fuels human rights abuses, and undercuts law-abiding seafood businesses. Over the past decade, fishwise has emerged as a global leader in advancing supply chain traceability and transparency - the ability to access information and track seafood from harvest to market - as a powerful mechanism to combat iuu fishing and forced labor in seafood production. With governments, ngos, and industry partners, fishwise is driving knowledge exchange, policy reform, and collective action towards legal, traceable, and ethical seafood supply chains.
