Mission
Src is committed to making homes healthy, safe and energy efficient for low income residents of minnesota. For over 45 years, src has specialized in weatherization, lead hazard detection and remediation, healthy homes training and aging in place services. Src focuses on retrofitting homes to improve the indoor living environment. Energy efficiency programs make the home more affordable by reducing the amount of energy required to heat and cool the structure. Healthy homes programs remove health risks such as lead paint, radon, mold, etc. Src also conducts community outreach, provides educational training, and tests children for lead poisoning.

3 programs
Lead hazard control, healthy homes, and aging in place:src has provided over 20 years of lead hazard control and healthy homes services as a sub-grantee/contractor on hud grants for hennepin county and for the minnesota department of health. Src provides paint inspections/risk assessments and remediates those hazards primarily by replacing lead-painted windows. Src also addresses a variety of other healthy homes issues for the low income segment including mold & moisture problems, pest infiltration, installation of grab bars and handrails, etc.
Lead poisoning education & outreach:src is a leading advocate for lead hazard awareness and the impact on children's brain development and nervous systems due to lead poisoning. Each year src's community outreach includes conducting dozens of outreach events, testing hundreds of children for lead poisoning, visiting several hundred homes to educate occupants on lead, asthma, and other healthy homes issues and take lead dust samples. Src also teaches lead and healthy homes classes to homeowners, tenants, landlords and community health workers in english and spanish. Src's lead testing van drives around the state to provide lead testing and educational services.
Src manages 6 community gardens in minneapolis which are gardened by local residents.
