Independent living resource center provides programs and services that educate and assist individuals with disabilities to live independently in the community including: self-advocacy training, life skills training and household management, asl sign language and deaf advocacy, housing advocacy and housing rental assistance, ada technical assistance for dutchess county businesses, legislative advocacy, community outreach and engagement to raise awareness about disability-related public policies and local issues of impact, special education advocacy, and support to families of children with disabilities. Tri expanded their special education advocacy program to include the parent empowerment program (pep). The pep provides parents/caregivers with technical support and trainings to empower them to more effectively advocate for special education services for their children within their respective public school districts. During the 2023-2024 fiscal year, 419 individuals were provided independent living assistance, 147 individuals received benefits advisement, and 410 individuals were assisted with special education advocacy.
