Mission
The Society's mission is to collect and disseminate State and local historical knowledge. A key component of this is the operation of the Wickersham House Museum. As a complement, the Society hosts free public lectures [in-person and via digital media], and sponsors publication of historical research findings and other materials. The Society collaborates with other organizations focused on Alaska's history, knowledge of it and preservation of the intellectual and built environoments. The Society obtains Federal, State, and Local grant monies and contracts in support of historic preservation and cultural resource managements, directly administering some grants and assisting in the administration of others.
