Mission

Ensure a Houston where no one goes hungry and all can provide food for themselves and families.

Programs

2 programs

The Navigation Program, staffed by a team of bilingual Community Health Workers, connects clients to critical resources such as rent and utility help, healthcare enrollment, and job training in addition to food assistance. These resources, in tandem with our food programs, help stabilize the health, finances, and overall well-being of Target Hunger families.

Expenses: $237K

Target Hunger staff, volunteers, and community members maintain two community gardens, the Willie G. & Gladys R. Goffney Community Garden located in Kashmere Gardens and the Shotwell Garden located at our main warehouse. Each year thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables are harvested, nearly all of which is distributed to clients. The gardens increase access to nutritious foods and serve as a hands-on way to combat food insecurity.
