Access to Care: This program provides financial assistance and essential health-related support to children and young adults diagnosed with traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, or cerebral palsy. The program is designed to reduce financial barriers that limit access to critical medical care, rehabilitation, and other services that support recovery and long-term well-being. In 2024, the program served over 600 individuals, offering assistance for medical co-pays, therapies, medications, and hospital bills. The program also supported the purchase of medical supplies such as adult diapers, sanitary pads, tubing, and other daily-use items essential to ongoing care. Additionally, clients received medical equipment including wheelchairs, braces, and cranial helmets, along with accessibility modifications such as ramps, adaptive showers, and home safety improvements. Transportation assistance, such as medical-related rides through services like Uber, was also provided to ensure consistent access to care. The program further supported wellness through the sponsorship of activities promoting physical, cognitive, and emotional healing, ensuring that participants and caregivers receive comprehensive, wraparound support.

Support for Family Caregivers: This program supported over 250 family caregivers of individuals living with traumatic brain injury and related conditions. The program focused on reducing caregiver stress, promoting emotional well-being, and strengthening overall family stability through a variety of accessible services. Support was delivered through both in-person and virtual programming, including mental health resources, peer support, wellness activities, and therapeutic engagement. One highlight of the program was the inclusion of art therapy, which provided caregivers with a creative outlet to process emotions, reduce anxiety, and build community through shared experience. The program also offered financial assistance for respite care, helping caregivers take essential breaks while ensuring their loved ones continued to receive support. Additional virtual activities focused on self-care and emotional connection, further helping caregivers build resilience and maintain their own health while caring for others.

Veterans and Caregiver Groups: This program facilitated monthly in-person support group meetings for Veterans and their caregivers, serving over 150 participants throughout the year. These sessions provided a safe and welcoming space for individuals to share experiences, connect with others facing similar challenges, and access emotional and peer support. The program focused on building community, reducing isolation, and promoting mental wellness through open discussion and structured activities. Each meeting was peer-led and designed to foster trust, belonging, and shared learning among attendees. Topics included mental health, caregiving stress, identity after service, relationship building, and practical tools for navigating life after brain injury. By providing ongoing in-person engagement opportunities, the Veteran and Caregiver Support Group empowered participants to strengthen their support networks, access resources, and improve their overall well-being.
