To improve communicatons between representatives of labor and management in order to provide a forum for discussion of matters of mutual interest; to provide opportunities to study and explore new approaches to achieving organizatiional effectiveness, to assist in solving problems of mutual concern not susceptible to resolution in the collective bargaining process, to study and explore ways of eliminating problems which reduce the competitiveness and inhibit development of the industry in which employers operate, to enhance opportunities for workers employed as owner operators covered by collective bargaining agreements, to find ways to monitor and preserve industry standards regarding wages and fringe benefits, to expand and improve working relationships between employees, owner/operators and employers, to encourage free collective bargaining, to identify snd expand work opportunities for employees and employers and to obtain governmental and philanthropic assistance for work recovery
