To promote and develop the sport of tennis in australia, (see schedule o)represent australia's tennis interests internationally. To promote and develop the sport of tennis in australia including the conduct of the australian open and other tennis events. Tennis australia is the governing body for the sport of tennis in australia. The company's objectives and strategies are to create champion tennis players on and off the court, increase the number of people playing the sport, ensure tennis coaches are adequately trained and running tournaments throughout the country. Tennis australia aims to increase health of all tennis venues and clubs ensuring the sport has a long sustainable future. This is all achieved through the reinvestment of australian open revenues back into the sport.

Programs

2 programs

Participationgetting more people to play tennis more often regardless of who, what, where, or when they play is the organisation's greatest ambition. In 2024, more than 1.3 million australians played tennis. Tennis australia is responsible for creating, promoting, and investing into tennis products that inspire more people to play. In october 2023, redesigned national programs, a new tennis brandmark, and strengthened coach pathway launched to help support this aim. Tennis was the number one selected sport in australian schools due to increased focus on the program. Accessibility projects and an increased emphasis on the inclusion space ensures that tennis is a sport for everyone.

Performancedeveloping champion players on and off the court through holistic world-class support is the aim of the tennis australia performance pathway. A team-based approach, working closely with private coaches to help athletes reach their full potential, is delivering impressive results. Eight australian players achieved career-high rankings within the world's top 100 in singles in 2024. Storm hunter finished 2023 as the year-end no.1 doubles player in the world. Matt ebden climbed to world no.1 in doubles following his australian open title in january. He and fellow australian john peers also claimed gold at the paris olympics. Both national teams continue to thrive making the finals of the billie jean king and davis cups. The performance pathway for athletes with a disability also continues to evolve with more events held across the nation.
