In keeping with our mission to gather and disseminate information, tlta keeps the membership informed through a variety of electronic publications emailed to over 15,000 members regularly. Additionally, it maintains a comprehensive website containing news and resources for title professionals and other settlement service providers as well as information and resources for consumers. Tlta publishes a membership directory as well as the texas title insurance basic manual which contains all laws and regulations governing the practice of title insurance in texas and has circulation of 12,500. Both publications are available in printed and online formats. Additionally, tlta carries out a number of public service and public relations efforts including a partnership grant with the texas historical commission to maintain restored courthouses.
Tlta represents its members through a comprehensive government affairs program at both the state and federal levels. This program includes supporting the title industry in regulatory matters at the texas department of insurance and other state agencies, legislative issues at the texas legislature, regulatory and legislative matters at the federal level, as well as any developments within the judicial branch. Additionally, tlta serves as a voice and provides a forum for discussion and collaboration with related industry groups, members of the community and other appropriate parties in order to address any issues of common concern.
Tlta launched a professional certification program that provides a format for texas title insurance professionals to demonstrate their knowledge; enhance professionalism of the industry; and assist employers in their search for qualified job candidates. Each of the three available designations represent a measure of achievement and proficiency in the texas title insurance industry & provides a pathway for career development.
