Advancing the worldwide study and strategic use of nonviolent actions in conflicts by encouraging research and policy studies on trhe methods of nonviolent action and their past use in diverse conflicts, sharing the results of this research with the public through publications.

Publications program: produces a monograph series, as well as conference reports, pamphlets and occassional papers. The institution has also completed the editing of an encyclopedia on nonviolent action and an annotated bibliography. The institution also supports program-related media productions.
Research program: tracks ongoing nonviolent struggles throughout the world; provide the institution staff with updates and in-depth information about a variety of groups and situations; maintains the institutioin's social media accounts; produces relevant articles to post on the institutions' website; and assists senior staff with research projects.
