Mission

The Beautiful Project is a collective of image makers that use photograpy, writing, and care to create spaces for Black women and girls to confromt the mass misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and misuse of their likeness in the media and in the world at large. Through tools of cultural activism, TBP collectively build and utilize voice and power to advance the wellness and representational justice of Black women and girls.

Artist in Residence. The TBP Teaching Artise Residency is a 6-9 month artist-in-residence fellowship that provides an opportunity for Black women and non binary practicing artist to work on a specific project in partnership with TBP Selected artist may work in photography, file, poetry, writing, or other visual art media. In addition to teaching young artist in TBP's youth program pipeline, visiting artist in TBP's youth program pipeline, visiting artist are required to lead their own special project that engages the organziation' mission of advancing the representational and healing justice of Black girls, gender-expansive youth, and women.
