Cdl's teen apprenticeship program (tap) is an immersive career and technical education (cte) experience specifically tailored for high school students. Focused on the fields of engineering, leadership, and design, tap provides a dynamic, laboratory-style classroom setting that simulates real-world work environments. Students gain crucial professional and technical skills by working on projects that support fellow non-profits, offering practical, on-site experience in areas like design, construction, manufacturing, fabrication, and engineering. Furthermore, apprentices can earn valuable industry certifications, such as cpr/aed/first aid and osha, which immediately enhances their college and career readiness and equips them for success as future innovators and leaders. Summer of 2024 cdl served 100 youth from across ri.
Cdl promotes inquiry-based learning through hands-on, student-centered, interdisciplinary steamm curriculum. The program challenges youth to follow their own curiosity to relevant learning experiences, helping them to discover the qualities of sciences and arts in a personal and meaningful manner
