Mission
The common good works with low income families through these initiatives: education, career development, advocacy and sports programs. The common good operates a community center in the area to provide these services.
Programs
3 programs
Afterschool learning center: the common good has an afterschool learning program for children at wayman tisdale academy, a public elementary school in tulsa school district. The learning center is designed for children that have been affected by "trauma" that affects their learning and emotional state. We typically have 80 children every school day for 3 hours afterschool. The children's ages are 7 through 11 or elementary school ages.
Sports programs: the common good started the year with basketball programs for children in the wayman tisdale academy area. The basketball programs conducted league play for over 75 children. In addition, we held soccer practice and team games during the spring and summer with over 50 kids participating. We have "open gym" night five nights a week for younger kids and for middle school aged kids. In addition, sports are introduced to our kids attending the afterschool learning center each day.
Health equity and nutrition: the common good addresses disparities in access to nutritious food that result in unequal health outcomes. Tcg produces fresh vegetables in a grow pod and through community gardens to distribute to the neighborhood. In addition, we partner with other non profits to provide over 400 families a month with fresh vegetables both grown from our facilities and provided by other local suppliers.
