The Green Urban Lunchbox

The small farm initiative grew fresh vegetables on our urban community farm and distributed the food through our community supported agriculture CSA program. In addition to the vegetables grown we trained farm apprentices stewards in urban agriculture skills and small business management.

Our fruitshare program harvested fruit from fruit trees located in community members backyards. This fruit was rescued from a trip to the landfill and was instead distributed to feed food insecure families in our community. Additionally we hosted several volunteers at our fruit harvests. In exchange they learned about basic fruit tree care and the importance of fresh nutritious food and forged a deep connection to their community.
