Mission

The hope effect is a nonprofit organization changing how the world cares for orphans.

Programs

3 programs

Colima family style care program: in colima, mexico, the government of colima invited us to establish family care in their state using the approach we have pioneered throughout latin america, where we help facilitate the reintegration of children who are currently living in orphanages back into their loving families and providing education and resources to strengthen families and prevent them from surrendering their children to an orphanage.

Expenses: $140KGrants: $91K

Michoacan family-style care program: in michoacan, mexico, we became the first nonprofit to receive government approval to provide family-style care. Until recently, the only option for orphaned and vulnerable children in the city of morelia, michoacan, was institutional care. We are partnering with the government to implement their newly-established family-style care program in morelia, which helps children get out of orphanages and into loving families. We recruit, evaluate, and train families to provide care, assist with child placement, and provide meaningful follow-up to families who welcome children into their homes.

Expenses: $107KGrants: $66K

We have established programs in battamband, cambodia and monterrey, mexico focusing on reintegration and prevention. We also have programs related to expansion, us awareness, and a mexico hq program.

Expenses: $170KGrants: $102K
