The hunger and health coalition relieves poverty and hunger for households experiencing economic hardship and food insecurity. We serve low-income and uninsured residents of avery, watauga and ashe counties who are forced to choose between paying rent and buying food.

Other programs include bcbs community health project, western watauga food outreach, and hannah building. These programs further enhance the goal to relieve poverty and hunger for households experiencing economic hardship.

Expenses: $263K

Pharmacy:the hunger and health coalition operates our areas only no-cost pharmacy, and provides life-sustaining chronic illness medication to 700-900 uninsured individuals each year. Clients without insurance can have their prescriptions sent to our pharmacy team to be filled, creating access to cost-prohibitive medication like insulin and inhalers. Our pharmacy provides life-sustaining medication and offers more than two million dollars in medication retail value to our communitys low-income members each year.
