Mission

Promote fair and affordable housing for low income families, free from the vestiges of segregation and discrimination.

Programs

3 programs

Voices For Opportunity The Project promotes education and empowerment through its Voices For Opportunity (VFO) program. The VFO program provides training to low-income families participating in HUD's voucher program. The training is offered to strengthen members' self-advocacy skills and establish a regional network of voucher participants living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This program fosters opportunities for the participants to impact programs and policies that affect them and nurtures fellowship and community among people with similar experiences.

Expenses: $71K

Fair Housing Advocacy and Education The Project advocates for fair and affordable housing by contributing to policy discussions at every level of government. The Project engages in administrative advocacy and litigation to further its mission where necessary. The Project's advocacy work also includes educating low-income families about their rights under the Fair Housing Act and related civil rights laws. Education incorporates training and coalition building to address the harms of discrimination, segregation, and neighborhood inequity.

Expenses: $63K

Affordable Housing Expansion and Advocacy - The Project works directly with housing developers and property owners to create and expand the supply of affordable housing through various projects and initiatives. The projects and initiatives are designed to address barriers to affordable housing for families using HUDs rental vouchers to move to areas with good schools, community resources, and employment opportunities.
