Mission
We provide evidence-based education and resources on wildlife rehabilitation to move the field of wildlife rehabilitation forward; to promote wildlife conservation and welfare; and to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts worldwide, through better understanding of wild animal ecology, behavior, and welfare.
Programs

Membership: Accomplishments: 1700 members in 52 countries provided with three issues of Journal of Wildlife Rehabilitation, individual support upon request, monthly peer support meeting/learning opportunities, monthly updates in state of the field, ability to query global list of rehabilitators. Objective: Connect and inform individuals in the field of wildlife rehabilitation and related professions.
Literature: Accomplishments: Provided 1,200 copies of books on animal behaviour, wildlife rehabilitation, wildlife nutrition, wildlife medical care, and wildlife parasitology to individuals and organizations.
General program donations and programmatic expenses not specified to an individual program are also included here.
Other Programs: The Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator Program, administered through IWRC, validates the knowledge of individual rehabilitators regardless of location on earth. In 2024 there were 230 CWRs active in eleven countries on five continents.
The Helene Van Donnick memorial scholarship awards scholarships to wildlife rehabilitators looking to attend conferences and trainings to teach or learn about public presentation for animal welfare and conservation.
