Programs

3 programs

The mac program provides $21 million over 3 years to create multicenter translational research teams across global medical centers. Each of these three-year multicenter translational projects aim to foster collaboration and advance compelling hypotheses that are ready for rapid testing in clinical trials, a critical step in the mmrf's urgent pursuit of a cure for each and every myeloma patient. The grants are focused on two critical areas of unmet need: optimizing first-line therapy for newly diagnosed high-risk multiple myeloma and improving identification of high-risk smoldering multiple myeloma (hr smm), an early, asymptomatic stage that can proceed to active multiple myeloma. In 2024 the collaborating centers continued to make positive progress, showing that pooling resources and samples across a network of institutions dramatically improves the ability to drive meaningful results.

Expenses: $5.4M

The immune atlas program is a collaboration between the mmrf and five leading academic medical centers. The mmrf continued to build out the mmrf immune atlas initiative (the "atlas"), an immune profiling and analytics platform using data and samples from the commpass study to generate data on the role of patient immunity in myeloma disease biology and response to therapy, and to support and speed efforts to make immunotherapy more precise for myeloma patients. The atlas describes the immune landscape in myeloma and how it changes throughout the course of the disease and treatment. This effort is a critical first step to establish guidelines and alignment on how immune data is produced, prioritized, aggregated, and shared. At scale, it has the potential to identify new immunologic factors predictive of patient response or relapse to therapy, to identify new immune targets for drug development and, eventually, enable clinicians to customize treatments and therapies based on an individual's immune system. In september 2024, the mmrf presented data from the atlas at the 21st international myeloma society annual meeting in rio de janeiro, brazil, which reinforced the value of the mmrf's integrated clinical and translational capabilities

Expenses: $1.1M

Beyond the program expenses outlined above, the mmrf also supports a range of strategic initiatives aligned with its broader mission. This includes a robust portfolio of cutting-edge basic science research aimed at identifying new therapeutic targets through genomics and proteomics; validation studies to explore promising compounds and treatment combinations; and innovative clinical trials focused on novel and combination therapies.founded by patients, the mmrf is deeply committed to those impacted by multiple myelomapatients, families, physicians, researchers, and investors. At the same time, the mmrf distinguishes itself through its bold and collaborative approach. We generate, analyze, and share the largest, most comprehensive set of high-quality myeloma data, making it publicly available to accelerate progress. By bringing together the right people, programs, and technologies, the mmrf is driving the rapid discovery of cures for each and every patient.
