To improve the scientific basis for environmental decision making; to facilitate the access and transfer of science to policy at all levels of government domestically and internationally; to advance the environmental sciences and their applications to human welfare and ecosystems; to foster and encourage research and education in the environmental sciences and to develop methods to apply the talents and resources of environmental scientists to protect the environment.
