The Plaza Theatre Inc

The organization maintains a regional iconic performance building in downtown wharton, tx which was originally built circa 1904. The building has historically been used for community activities and entertainment, and the plaza theatre continues the tradition of providing live entertainment for wharton county and the surrounding area. Emphasis is placed on the restoration of the building to its original appearance, thus preserving some of the history of wharton county. The organization, along with bringing live cultural entertainment inside the building, takes the opportunity at each performance to educate the public about the historical significance of the plaza theatre and surrounding buildings on the courthouse square in downtown wharton, tx.
