OHA partners with the Ohio Department of Health to lead and support the emergency preparedness Zone Structure. OHA supported state efforts to prepare for the 2024 Solar eclipse, including tabletop exercises. OHA worked with state and federal partners to support hospitals during the IV solution shortage that resulted from Hurricane Helene hitting the Baxter production plant.
Continuous Service Readiness (CSR): is a subscription-based consulting and education service that provides consulting and educational needs to 65 member hospitals. A spring and fall conference were held in person with dedicated CSR consultants on-site.
Maternal & Infant Health: The Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) plays an active role in advancing maternal and infant health through statewide leadership and partnerships. OHA serves on key advisory groups, including the Ohio Commission on Infant Mortality and the Ohio Newborn Advisory Steering Committee. The First Steps for Healthy Babies program, launched in partnership with the Ohio Department of Health, now reaches over 99% of maternity hospitals and continues to expand recognition for hospitals supporting breastfeeding and partner engagement. Through the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM), OHA has advanced patient safety bundles addressing severe maternal hypertension, obstetric hemorrhage, and maternal substance use disorder, while also supporting statewide efforts on maternal health equity. In 2024, OHA provided hundreds of benchmark reports, hosted a maternal health conference, and advised state partners on policies such as doula support services.
