To promote worker health and environmental awareness through regulatory compliance training.
Programs

Through our niehs grant funding, we train in three distinct components: hazardous waste workers, hazmat disaster preparedness, and an environmental career worker program to train persons to work in the environmental field and provide job placement assistance. During 2024, we trained 597 people under the waste workers component, 653 under the disaster preparedness component and had 53 graduates under our career worker program. During 2024 we also completed a supplemental grant for the disasters that hit our coverage area, training 495 under this funding.
During 2024, through our fy23 & fy24 osha training grant, swa trained 828 people. This program focuses on the manufacturing industry, specifically small businesses with a goal of preventing workplace injuries through proper training.
Through the epa's brownfields job training program, we have a career worker program to train individuals to work in the environmental field and provide job placement assistance. In 2024, we had 22 graduates from this program.
