Mission
The York Theatre is an Off-Broadway not-for-profit theatre in New York City dedicated to the development of new musicals and the rediscovery of forgotten gems. Our mission is to cultivate and advance musical theatre among artists, audiences, and the broader community. We support creators, showcase new talent, and provide students with hands-on theatre education. We also serve the community by presenting free or low-cost performances and bring the power of live theatre to underserved audiences. Through the development and production of musical works, we strive to ensure that the performing arts remain vibrant, accessible, and essential to cultural life.

To provide students with opportunities for hands-on theatre education.The York Theatre Company offers year-round internships in our Artistic/Literary, Development, Management, and Marketing departments. Our interns are immersed in their chosen area, receiving personalized mentorship from our staff along the way. Throughout their time with us interns have the opportunity to diversify their skills by working within various departments, thereby gaining valuable hands-on experience of working within a professional not-for-profit theatre company that has a rich legacy in the theatre landscape of NYC.
