Thrifting 4 gifting, previously known as assistance league of temecula valley, is a volunteer philanthropic organization dedicated to serving the needs of families in southwest riverside county. Volunteers are committed to community service and special programs to help local children and families in need.

Programs

7 programs

Operation Nonprofit Partnership provides community assistance to other 501(c)(3) organizations by supporting and assisting in needed services that are not duplicated by other organizations. This includes school districts, local food pantries and foster family agencies, including transitional housing. The Organization provides in-kind donations of clothing and supplies to individuals and families in need. The use of the Organizations meeting facilities is available to approximately 15 other non-profit organizations at no cost to them.

Expenses: $128K

Operation Scholarships provides yearly grants to selected teachers in the five school districts in the organizations service area. Teachers present applications for class projects that meet state guidelines for classroom enhancement. Graduating high school seniors in the Temecula, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore Unified School Districts apply for scholarships to continue their education. Additionally, the Organization awards scholarships to socio-economically disadvantaged college students who are continuing their education.

Various other programs including, but not limited to, Operation Book Worm, Celebrate the Seasons, Honoring Our Veterans, Helping SMART Moms which are overseen by the Organization's Assisteen's Auxiliary.

Operation Foster/Homeless Youth facilitates collaboration with local foster care homes and foster family agencies to provide service in the form of the basic essentials of clothing and necessary supplies for children entering the foster care system. This program also provides assistance to foster and homeless youth for their high school expenses and to non-minor dependents as they move into independent living.

Operation Bear Hug provides teddy bears to injured and traumatized children through local hospital emergency rooms and Trauma Intervention Programs and supports local pediatric patients through the Elizabeth Hospice. These bears are used to provide comfort and aid in communication.

The Assisteens Auxiliary provides volunteer opportunities for todays youth. Membership into the auxiliary is open to young people in grades 7-12. The aims of participation are to develop a sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, poise, public speaking and leadership skills. Assisteens support the Organizations philanthropic programs.

Five Points: The Organizations philanthropic programs are structured under an umbrella referred to as Five Points". Funds from this program are available to support and supplement the Organization's other philanthropic programs focusing on clothing, food, health, literacy and supplies. The expenses incurred for this program were $19,852.
