TIBA SUPPORTED CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: Tiba funded and completed construction of a state-of-the art operating theater at Matibabu Hospital, which opened in 2024, with three well-equipped surgery suites, a nine-bed perioperative area, and a small ICU. Tiba also funded and largely completed construction of Matibabu's community mortuary. Tiba also funded and completed construction of a science laboratory classroom at Lifunga Secondary School for Girls, to help high school girls prepare for careers in STEM.
EMPOWERING WOMEN: The Boda Girls program, established by Tiba and Matibabu Foundation with funding from Tiba, trains and supports female motorcycle taxi drivers. The Boda Girls provided women with thousands of free rides to maternal care in 2024. They also gave local girls free rides to and from Lifunga Secondary School for Girls, taught them about reproductive health, and provided them with free menstrual kits. In 2024, Tiba conducted a study with Harvard Business School Community Partners to scale Boda Girls to other parts of Kenya. In 2024, Tiba provided scholarships to nursing students at the Mary Ann van Dam School of Nursing at Matibabu's College of Health Sciences. Tiba also funded a STEM camp and STEM field trips for students at Lifunga Secondary School for Girls, and helped set up a new library at the school, to which Tiba delivered over 400 books.
