Mission
We provide access to dance & performance, & holistic wraparound services, for young people from marginalized communities. We support youth as they transcend barriers, recognize their own potential & power, and create positive change.

Through the CREATE Performance Group, youth ages 9-18 years engage in rigorous dance training, are immersed in a social change and social emotional learning curriculum, and have access to holistic wraparound services.
transcenDANCE alumniCONTRIBUTEthrough performances, teaching and choreography assistantships and paid roles, and mentoring of incoming students, and are eligible for college scholarships.
2024 CONNECT programs: -Held onsite dance classes weekly throughout the school year for 65 students. -Partnered with 12 school residency sites in Lemon Grove and San Diego, serving 1,531 students across schoolyear and summer residency programming. -Reached 160 intergenerational participants at two City of San Diego parks through the Citys Parks After Dark. We offered safe, fun summer dance spaces led by our Teaching Artists at Linda Vista and Skyline Hills Park. -Performed with Grammy-award winning music artists, Alphabet Rockers, at the Conrad in La Jolla. -Reached 3,891 audience members through outreach performances held at community partner sites, festivals, events, and conferences. CREATE HIGHLIGHTS-CREATE Performance Groups of 63 students total, in 3 age-based cohorts, held 3 performances at the Hoover High School Performing Arts Center for 1,164 audience members. -350+ program hours centered on dance and performing arts that also included exploration of a rich curriculum on dignity, human rights, and civic engagement. -Holistic wraparound support including mental health and wellness services, leadership development opportunities, and college readiness support for high school seniors. -50 students attended an intensive Summer CREATE session, with 15 sessions of dance, visual art, poetry, storytelling sessions, and a final showcase performance for families and friends. -26 students attended a Level Up SD summer camp experience, with 10 full days of dance and visual arts experiences, work with an expressive arts therapist, and two showcase events for families and friends. CONTRIBUTE HIGHLIGHTS -10 paid positions for teens and alumni over the summer as choreographers, performers, teaching artists, and staff assistants.-10 college scholarships totaling over $25,000 were given to CREATE program alumni.
