Transitional paths to independent living affirms liberty and justice for all people with disabilties.

Programs

Ovr state appropriations program for independent living - provides skills training, peer support counseling, housing assistance, information & referral services and advocacy to persons with disabilities. Office of vocational rehabilitation supported and expanded the capacity of the acl funding; fostered the services to a membership of 200 members who were instrumental in the governance of the non-profit according to the independent living principles and activites according to state law pertaining to the operation of centers for independent living; provided wellness counseling and services to 104 individuals.

Pennsylvania initiative on assistive technology program - provides for the transfer of assistive technology to approximately 250 people with disabilities who need that technology, includes serving as a local outreach office for the technology lending library and training to businesses, professionals, parents, and consumers on assistive technology. Transitional paths to independent living allows members opportunities to learn about critical issues facing the disability community, participate in educational and fun excursions, benefit from the internet cafe, and utilize the wellness gym to name a few of the choices.

Additional programs utilizing grant funding to engage individuals and groups of the local disability community in sharing of common experiences as the basis of mutual support, including nursing home transition program costs to allow individuals to accesses opportunities in our society so they can live more independently.
