Leadership development programs: the organization trains rising leaders as truman security fellows, political partners, and defense council members. The leaders represent who are activists, elected officials, and communications consultants. Truman's unique and innovative national security education, training, and advocacy program prepares our fellows, partners, and defense council members to reach, learn from, inform, educate, and train national security leaders for today and the next generation. With all three groups, the organization teaches them about defense, development, diplomacy, and democracy policy (among other key national security topics) through a series of curated "101" training programs (e.g., military 101, development 101, climate & energy 101 and others). We also offer all three groups a leadership development seminar, including a structured mentorship program during their associate (first) year as truman members. We also offer advanced educational opportunities to strengthen and hone members' cache and standing as leading experts in their fields, as well as practical skills building in communication and messaging, among other skills, to assist in their professional development and strengthen their capacity to lead change.

National security education (training): tnsp offers a certified training program for its more advanced leaders, who in turn, offer trainings for other organizations on issues of national security interest, such as military 101 training for civilian leaders to understand the military, city and state diplomacy 101 training for leaders to understand the relationship between foreign policy, national security and state and local engagement. The organization of engages in writing and media appearances in national and state publications, radio, and television on a variety of national security and foreign policy topics.
