Mission it to create a work ready community one step at a time by giving the community the skills needed to be productive caring citizens and to enhance their quality of life. We thrive to provide employers with a well-qualified, trained and educated workforce.

Education Program: The Tunica Workforce Center helps to provide necessary community education programs that will assist adults and youths to be able to have a better quality of life. The education program looks at the formal public school system and the necessary reforms that must be undertaken to ensure that all students and parents have access to a first-rate quality education system that will prepare them to be progressive citizens. At the same time, the education system includes pre and post employment programs to help prepare people to be gainfully employed if they do not go to college. The Tunica Workforce Center assists in providing GED/Adult Education Trainings, Computer Usage Training, Technology Training, and lifestyle services (obesity, heart, health, etc.). Also the Tunica Workforce Center provides education and training services through the Returning Citizens Program to help insure safe and productive communities. The Tunica Workforce Center will help with recruiting, placement, and information sharing to help local people to get with the right employer.

Community Organizing: The Tunica Workforce Center helps to provide needed community organizing and building workshops and services to help the low-income communities of color to enhance the cohesiveness of each community to be self empowered. The trainings include the outreach to establish a public transportation system that will allow community people to be self sustaining. The Workforce Center also provide trainings and workshops on Civic Engagement, Census Work, youth development, and GIS Mapping. Accountability trainings and workshops are conducted with the local officials to ensure that the local policies that impact their communities are implemented. Conflict Resolution Trainings are conducted to make sure that communities are empowered and not divided. Team Building Trainings are conducted to teach all races how to co-exist to make a stronger community. During emergency times, the Tunica Workforce Center will become a direct conduit for necessary services (food, water, medical, etc.) to help the local community to survive.

Expenses: $20K

Leadership development: the tunica workforce center is helping to mature new leaders from disadvantaged, low-income, communities of color. The program of work focuses on youths and students through an array of leadership and organizing trainings (10 in 60 trainings, youth leaders training, culture trainings, recruitment of other youths, and celebrating community achievements. The workforce center will conduct a youth leadership summit in the delta annually or when applicable.

Expenses: $10K

Organizational development: the tunica workforce center is working to increase the scale and scope of the organization by engaging in the following activities: board of directors trainings to make the board members more proficient in governing the organization. Executive director and staff trainings to strengthen accountability, fund raising, and leadership development within the management of the organization. When implemented, fund raising will be enhanced by the creation of a fund raising plan that will help to grow the budget of the organization.
