Counseling & advocacy: turning point provides advocacy, group and individual counseling/support adult and child survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as their loved ones. Last year, 257 survivors received counseling/support services. All counseling staff are certified trauma specialists, with training on how to support survivors along their entire healing journey. There is no charge to the individual for these services.

Sexual assault nurse examiner program:turning point developed the first forensic nurse examiner program (fnep) in se michigan. This program operates 24/7 and provides emergency and support services for survivors of sexual assault of all ages. Specially trained nurses and advocates provide immediate crisis intervention, medical care and evidence collection to sexual assault victims. This program also provides strangulation assessment services, follow up counseling services, expert witness testimony in court hearings and community education for law enforcement and medical personnel.last year they provided services to 350 individuals and 196 phone consultations.

Community development & preventiondomestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking are community issues that require a collaborative response. Our community engagement & prevention program brings community members, professionals, and systems together to improve safety for survivors, hold offenders accountable, and create lasting change. Our community engagement efforts focus on building relationships with law enforcement, medical professionals, social service providers, schools, faith communities, and other groups to strengthen our community's response to violence. Through trainings, technical assistance, and outreach, we raise awareness, provide tools to support survivors, and promote practices that prioritize safety and accountability. Last year, approximately 134 presentations were facilitated to 3,232 adults. The prevention education programs work with middle and high school students, educators, and school administrators to promote healthy relationships, teach consent, improve how we respond to abuse and violence, and prevent dating violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Last year, we provided approximately 211 presentations to 4,770 students and teachers.
