We provide resources for water and sanitation, build new homes for families facing homelessness, setting up small income generating ventures for widows and single mother so they can support their children, organizing community workshops on parenting, hygiene, life skills, etc; farming and animal husbandry, and community leadership engagement. During this fiscal year we built homes for nine families; grannies, widows and single mothers caring for orphan children they now have a place to call a permanent home. The homes are fully furnished with a kitchen, latrine, bathroom, rainwater catchment system, and solar for lights.
Health Care Outreach program: Supporting basic health screening, treatment and ongoing medical care for vulnerable children and adults within Uganda. We assist with paying medical bills and related expenses for children undergoing treatment and surgeries for various ailments such as cancer, malaria, severe malnutrition, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, burn wounds, HIV/AIDS, etc. Through the medical program, over sixty children and adults have received life-saving medical interventions this year and some cases are under on-going management and support. We support children needing prosthetic limbs and on-going physiotherapy. During medical camps we provide basic health screening, treatment, as well as health and wellness seminars in rural communities.
Other programs include: care for orphans involving paying tuition, scholastic materials, providing food, shelter, and basic supplies to orphans and child-headed family children. URF also implements runs a renewable energy program, installing solar systems for schools, eldercare centers, orphanages, and solar water pumping systems for communities. In addition, URF supports the implementing partner, the Uganda Rural Fund, a community based organization which houses volunteer, overseas all the programs in the country, assess needs of families and communities, and ensures program grants are implemented according to acceptable standards and set objectives.
