THE RURAL AND URBAN MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM is an initiative of UWP to design and deliver to the Ugandan Ministry of Water Environment a live interactive database built on the mWater platform, to manage all water assets in the country and encompass the work of all major stakeholder groups. In addition, UWP leads the training, implementation and ongoing expert support for districts, MWE regional offices, and MWEs MIS team. UWP also coordinates collaboration with other NGOs participating in the implementation of RUMIS in various districts of Uganda.
In 2024, 191 enrolled communities contributed over 42,000 USD of their own resources paid into a local preventative maintenance fund for the locally based AquaTrust water enterprise UWP has launched. UWP provides catalytic funding to support the development of AquaTrust, a professional preventative maintenance service for rural boreholes in Uganda. AquaTrust enrolls communities into a fee-based service that delivers ongoing maintenance and rapid repairs. The program is designed to ensure consistent borehole functionality, with a target of maintaining 99 uptime across enrolled water points.
