Rent and Utilities Assistance provided rent support to 103 unique households, 384 unique individuals with 159 cases of assistance in 2024. Our rent assistance program helps to prevent eviction and homelessness and assists new arrivals with housing. Due to an affordable housing crisis in Ulster County and the fact that many immigrant families pay more than 50% of their income on rent, our rent assistance program helps to prevent eviction and homelessness. The increase in oil and electricity prices puts a huge strain on the ability to pay bills. To ensure that immigrants families have heat, hot water and electricity, UIDNs utility assistance program in 2024 has helped 41 unique households, 171 unique individuals with 61 cases of assistance.

The Transportation and Accompaniment program provides rides to immigrants living in Ulster County who cannot afford them. These rides are to court hearings in NYC, ICE and ISAP check-ins in the Bronx and legal consultations in White Plains and other locations to help prevent detainment and deportation. Rides are also provided for long distance medical appointments. In 2024, UIDN provided 188 cases of assistance to 95 unique households.

Expenses: $48K

UIDNs Legal Assistance program helps provide pathways to legal residency and status. To this end, UIDN has helped with financial assistance towards legal consultations, asylum cases, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases for abandoned youth and prosecutorial dismissal. In 2024, UIDNs legal assistance program helped 24 unique households, 78 unique individuals with 40 cases of assistance.
