Community Paramedic Peer Support Specialists & Ujima Trauma Care Recovery Center: A two-pronged approach to recovery and healing. Trained Peer Support Specialists work alongside Community Paramedics to respond to overdoses and behavioral health crises, providing culturally aligned care, linkage to treatment, and up to one year of continued support. This work is anchored by the Ujima Trauma Care Recovery Center, Buncombe Countys first culturally specific recovery hub for Black and other historically marginalized people navigating substance use, trauma, and systemic barriers. Ujima offers peer-led healing spaces, harm reduction supports, and workforce pathways through the Certified Peer Support Specialist model.

John R. Hayes High Steppin Majorettes and Drum Corp: Reviving a historic community marching band tradition rooted in HBCU excellence, this program connects cultural heritage to leadership development, creative expression, and violence prevention. Youth as young as six participate as majorettes, drummers, and dancers, keeping alive a legacy that has long served as both a cultural anchor and a civic hub in Ashevilles Black communities.
