Umoja Village

Umoja Village created an initiative as part of the Umoja Village Rebuilding The Foundation Crime Prevention Plan entitled "Project Bounce Back." This initiative works with the adult second chance population. Any client who requests assistance from Umoja Village with housing assistance transportation services job creation initiatives etc. is required to establish a Life Action Plan. From there Umoja Village provides support services to address any barriers to help them move forward with life. Another adult second chance initiative supported by Umoja Village was the PharmTech Express program where we provided academic assistance totalling $11,900 to individuals seeking to become training pharmacy technicians.

Umoja Village Funding Allocation Process: As part of the Umoja Village Rebuilding The Foundation Crime Prevention Plan one of the primary strategies is to invest in those local youth mentorship and adult second chance initiatives that we know are making a difference; however they arent able to be as effective due to limited funding. Through our own grant process we require those organizations to attend our grant writing workshop prior to submitting an application for funding.

Annual Black History Community Celebration: Since 2022 Umoja Village plans an annual Black History celebration that is meaningful substantive and adds value for the community. At this event which is very reasonably priced to allow the community to afford we recognize each years honorees of our annual "Umoja Village Celebrates Black Excellence" wall calendars. The event features a guest speaker historical presentations and other appropriate entertainment. The 2024 expenses were $16,093.94; and the revenues along with calendar sales were $11,438.54. Sponsorships and collaborations with other organizations: Because Umoja Village promotes unity we exemplify unity by collaborating with other organizations or by sponsoring events that align with our mission. The 2024 events included Kodas Kids Foundation The Center For African American History Art & Culture the NAACP The Big 7 Association TriDevelopment Center etc. The 2024 expenses for those collaborations were $6,177.84. We held a combination Founders Day and Juneteenth event $4,287.25. We provided Hurricane Helene relief to underserved neighborhoods by hiring food trucks and providing grocery store gift cards $7,565.00.
