Future leaders academy for middle school (flam) empowers students and their parents with the tools, resources, and skills to successfully transition to high school with a long-term postsecondary mindset. Through interactive workshops and activities, students and their parents learn about the importance of taking rigorous classes in high school, being involved in extracurricular activities, taking on leadership positions, and volunteering in the community. Students attend college tours and gain important skills through hands-on steam career exploration with a focus on emerging career paths, such as those in ai and digital arts. They learn about various post-secondary paths, including technical colleges, community colleges, and 4+ year public and private universities. In addition to college and career readiness, the flam program also emphasizes life skills, goal setting, public speaking, good study habits, and transitional skills.

Expenses: $93K

Our postsecondary pathways program is uniquely tailored to non-traditional latino/hispanic students seeking a brighter future. This innovative program can benefit young adults who were not able to start college immediately after high school or adults who want the chance to go back to school or gain a certification that will increase their income. Our bilingual education navigator guides students every step of the way, from application to certification or college completion.

Expenses: $62K

The 2-gen empowered parents program seeks to meaningfully engage and develop leadership among parents in our growing latino community. The program focuses on leadership, relationship building, and civic participation. Parents learn how to navigate the education system and advocate for their children. Through monthly workshops and activities, parents also learn about and connect with the resources offered through their children's schools and the community. Parents are able to enhance their knowledge and confidence to be active, integrated, and contributing members of society. Each year, a cohort of 10-15 parents is also selected to be parent leaders, where they participate in additional monthly training in skills such as effective communication, civic engagement, and public speaking. As ambassadors for unidosnow, they volunteer at local outreach events and share resources with their friends and neighbors.other programs include leadnow high school clubs, which provides support and mentoring for local high school students, and various regional collective initiatives, which partner with other youth-serving organizations to deliver programming to students.
